Staten Island Care Center, a premier provider of subacute rehabilitation and skilled nursing care is a proud recipient of a 5-Star Rating by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The rating system was created by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to help consumers and their families make informed decisions when choosing a facility.  The Five-Star rating system is based on a facility’s dedication to inspection standards, staffing, and quality measures.  Indeed, these increasingly stringent regulations make receiving a 5-Star Rating a great achievement!

Nestled in the heart of Staten Island, overlooking the Verrazano Bridge and the Bay, Staten Island Care Center is a welcoming and cheerful setting – the kind of environment recommended by physicians to their patients in need of rehabilitative and nursing care.

“We are very proud of our accomplishments,” Rafi Motechin, Administrator says. “My staff has worked tirelessly and continuously to provide the highest standard of care for our residents.  We are proud that this is their home and do whatever is necessary to ensure that each and every individual is as happy and comfortable as possible.”

Staten Island Care Center’s remarkable multilingual staff plays an important role in achieving a 5-Star rating. “We are extremely pleased,” says Mr. Motechin. “The 5 Star rating is above all, a clear indication that we are fulfilling the clinical needs of our community and doing it with high standards of hospitality that is valued by our residents.”

The center features a dedicated Subacute Care Unit that offers private and semiprivate rooms, a Home Training Room, a modern rehab gym, and panoramic views of the Verrazzano Bridge. In the dedicated Alzheimer’s and Dementia Unit, individuals with memory impairment benefit from specialized programming that builds self-esteem and encourages social interaction.  Caregivers in this unit undergo intensive training in Dementia Care and are highly attuned to the residents’ needs.

Unique to Staten Island Care Center, the Home Training room allows residents to master all the skills they need to successfully transition back home.  According to Mr. Motechin, “We are the only skilled nursing facility on Staten Island to offer this and it reflects in our ability to successfully and effectively discharge our patients safely back to their homes.”
